Jacqueline is a Working Mom in College

[ Music ]>>I always want to finish my education. Always. I only finished my fifth
grade in my country back in Mexico. I didn’t have the chance before
because I was raising four kids. But I never give up reading books, learning
and work with co-workers to better my English. And I went back and got my GED
and from there, I want to – yeah. This is the bridge to get to college. That’s my mission. [ Music ] I explained to her, you know, I
have a family and have four kids. I have – I’m a full-time employee. But she started looking into the
classes and helping me, guiding me. This is what you’re going to need. This is our goal to, you know, jump into the
next step which is going to be your university. And I feel the day where I submit my
application for San Jose State and in state, she was there guiding me,
watching through and how to do it. Every single staff member from Mission,
they support I mean a hundred percent. [ Music ]>>I’ve always looked at my mom as a role model. She’s always pushed me into moving
forward and to never give up. I look at my mom and I say if she
can do it, I can do it just as well. [ Music ] My teachers come up to me and they ask
me how are you doing, are you doing well. If you need any help with anything, if
you do, you can come to my office hours or if those don’t work, we can
set up a time where we can meet. And, you know, they’re always just attentive
to my needs and always trying to help me. [ Music ] My mom is my role model. As far as I can remember, she’s never given up.>>I want to let people know
that it’s never too late. It’s not easy and it’s not impossible. [ Music ]
